Q & A's with the team

Lorna’s Q & A

Cut or colour?

I prefer colour a lot more to cutting, I still love cutting but the endless world of colouring appeals to me so much more, the different techniques the ever-changing trends of colours and styles always means I’m doing something new.

What inspired you to do hair?

I loved changing my own hair all the time and seeing all the instagram hair artists creating these amazing colours. But then beginning to understand why they were doing what they were doing spurred me on to want to put the techniques into practice on other peoples hair.

Crazy colour or neutral balayages?

I love love love doing crazy colours the blends and tones, but I love the natural tones you get through a balayage the regrowth time is a lot easier with a balayage and less harsh blends.

Sharp one length or choppy layers?

I prefer a clean one length cut, I think the precision lines within the cut make it so much more of a statement look especially paired with a bold colour such as a copper or a dark brown.

Curly blow-dry or curling wand?

Curling wands are amazing for locking in a style but if the hair will let me then a curly blow dry is a must for that voluminous look.

Sleek and straight or curly blow out?

I love both a glossy chocolate colour on pin straight hair looks incredible but then a sandy beige toned balayage with some loose beach waves looks equally as good.

Highlights or balayage?

I really enjoy a full head of foils if I have the time, the transformational effect they have are great and they’re an amazing head start for colour transformations. I love balayage for the freedom it gives you, you get a large choice of tones, the upkeep falls into your hands and they look amazing for longer due to the regrowth.

Whats your favourite thing about working here?

I like the freedom my job gives me, I like that clients use my input in their colour and cut decisions and that my job makes people happy.

Clippers or scissors?

I rarely use clippers bar a few hairstyles/undercuts I leave most of the clipper work to matt or Simon so I would have to pick scissors for this one.

Favourite thing in the world?

Fruit winders and my Captain Toner cup a client got me haha!

Matt’s Q & A

Cut or colour? Cutting definitely, I’d like to go into colouring in the future but I want to perfect my cutting for now.

What inspired you to do hair? I kept seeing a lot of things on social media showing various styles of cuts and fades and thought that it would be something to look further into.

Sharp angular cuts or choppy textured cuts? I prefer texture depending on the style of cut but I like both ultimately.

Skin fade or taper? I like a traditional tapered cut, I think they’re timeless and will suit anyone. I like the idea of merging both together and creating a modern-classic twist on it.

Quiff or fringe? I like a quiff with volume and texture.

What are you excited about working here? The reputation of the salon is great and getting to work alongside Simon and get 1-1 training whilst working on models is going to be a really good start to my hairdressing career.

Clippers or scissors? Overall I prefer scissors, I find you get a cleaner cut and more control using scissors, especially when it comes to fine detailing.

Favourite film in the world? Braveheart
