Hello everyone and welcome back to another email.

** WE ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED**

We know it’s a bit of a scary time in the world right now with lots of uncertainty, but we are all in this together. We at Simon Townley Hair want to thank all of the NHS staff, delivery drivers, postmen, takeaway workers, builders and everybody else who is bravely working during this time.❤️

**ISOLATION HAIR TIME**

Now we know this is going to be a tough time for everyone’s hair, there’s going to be grown out foils and dodgy cuts galore!

Fear not, for all you colour clients take this as a small time to give your hair some R&R.

Please do not attempt to colour your own hair it will only make it that bit harder for us when we return back if we have to fix hundreds of box dye disasters. Box dyes are formulated differently to the colourants we use and as such they sit and act on the hair differently. An ingredient in box dye is known as metallic salts, dun dun duuuuunnnn.

So your probably thinking what’s metallic salts?

  1. Extremely damaging if being placed over already processed ( bleached ) hair.

  2. A lot stronger than salon dye, over time hair will be left brittle, very dry and appear dull and flat.

  3. They stain the entire shaft of the hair meaning that the £6 box dye may cost hundreds in repeat appointments to get back out again.

During this time of isolation there are some positive things we can do for our hair though so let’s have a talk about those.

  1. Avoid the heat. If they’re was any excuse to have bed head it’s now. Give the straighteners, curlers and crimpers a rest. You’ll reduce your split ends and keep your colour better.

  2. My hair is yellow help help help. Now I know this is going to be a big deal for a lot of people and there are ways to combat this. We always recommend a good decent purple shampoo. The cheaper options aren’t going to do anything. The pigment levels do vary between them giving different strengths but the one we swear by is Matrix Silver shampoo or Brass Off. Please don’t overuse purple shampoo if you don’t need to we recommend grey/silver - every wash, ash blonde - every other wash, and for more beige creamy tones once a week should be good.

  3. Treatments. We all need a treat sometimes and hair is no different so during this time let’s look after it. We know a few good treatments, the first is the Total Treat by Matrix. This tub has about multiple uses depending on length and thickness but potentially a lot more if your hair is on the shorter side. It brings beautiful shine, illuminates your colour and hydrates hair right the way through instead of sitting on the surface.

For the men, I’m sorry guys but there’s not all that much you can do right now for your hair apart from let it grow. As soon as we’re open again we will make sure everyone gets an appointment with either Matt or Simon and everyone’s haircuts are done.

We aren’t too sure when we’re going to re-open it’s such a tricky thing to put a time on as we’re all pretty much in the unknown right now. As soon as we find out it’s time to re-open an email will be sent to everyone who subscribes to the email and then it will be published on the page.

Thank-you for taking the time to read this email and making it to the end. We look forwards to seeing you all soon.

STH❤️
